The family of Katherine Lee Wilks will celebrate her life with family and friends on Thursday, August 8th 2013 at Central United Methodist Church in Decatur. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall with the funeral at 2 p.m. Burial will follow the funeral in Decatur City Cemetery.
Katherine is survived by her three children, Karen Love (Glenn), Kathy Littrell (Mark) and John Wilks III. She adored her six grandsons, Tyler Love, Harrison Love, Wilson Love of Birmingham, Peyton Littrell and Scott Littrell of Decatur and John Wilks IV of Birmingham.
Katherine, who died August 5, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born on December 6, 1934, in Bessemer. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence F. Lee and Martha Scott Lee of Decatur; and her husband of 50 years, John E Wilks Jr.
Katherine was a sustainer with the Junior League of Morgan County where she was the co-editor of Cotton Country Cooking Cookbook. She was a graduate of UNA, a charter member of the Decatur Assembly, the Decatur General Hospital Foundation Guild and employee for many years at Decatur Orthopedic Clinic.
The family is extremely grateful for the love and care provided to their mother by Dr. Scott Matthews, Clearview Cancer Center and the 3 north nursing staff.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Central United Methodist Building Fund, 616 Jackson St, Decatur AL 35601 or to the Delano Park Rose Garden, P.O. Box 742, Decatur, AL 35602.
Pallbearers will be her six grandsons.
