Katherine Landon Offord, 85, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at NHC Healthcare in Bristol, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Earl Landon and Lydia McMillan Landon; her husband, Vernon Glenn Offord Sr.; and an infant grandson, Thomas Garner Gwaltney.
Katherine was a homemaker who lived in Decatur from 1958 until 2008. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Decatur and a member of the Decatur General Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Gwaltney and husband, Nelson, of Bristol, Tennessee; son, Vernon Offord and wife, Mary, of Danville; grandchildren, Sarah Gwaltney of Charleston, South Carolina, David Gwaltney of Johnson City, Tennessee, Ashley Foster and husband, Keith, of Decatur, Andrea Offord of Newnan, Georgia, and Austin Offord of Danville; great-grandchild, Sofia Foster; sisters, Juanita Landon of Daphne and Annette Baas and husband, Robert, of Fairhope.
The committal and interment will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 2 p.m. in Mobile Memorial Gardens, 6100 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL 36619.
