Katherine I. Owens was born Feb. 9, 1929, and passed away Dec. 10, 2015.
She was preceded in death by parents, Charles H. Ikerman and Leanora R. Ikerman; husband, Willie D. Owens; and son, Charles E Owens.
She is survived by three daughters, Ann Owens Strunk, Helen Owens Hill (Butch), and Janice Owens Johnson (Martin); daughter-in-law, Dianne Dean Owens; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two nephews; and one niece.
She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of Decatur. She retired from the Redstone Arsenal being an administrative assisstant for over 30 years. She served as a member of the local Pilot Club and ABWA.
To honor and celebrate Katherine’s life, there will be a graveside service on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation with family will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Decatur Animal Shelter or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
