Katherine Hooper, a lifelong resident of Brownsville, TN passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Sugar Creek Retirement Center in Brownsville. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at 11 AM in the Lea and Simmons Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Young officiating. Burial will follow in Brownsville Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021, 10 AM to 11 AM in the Lea and Simmons Funeral Home. She was born on February 10, 1923. She was the second of four children born to Mary Lou (Thomas) and Dewey Outlaw. She was predeceased by her husband, Mack Hooper, parents, and her brothers, William T. Outlaw and Nathan D. Outlaw. Kathrine attended Haywood County High School where she was an All-State basketball player, after graduation, she was employed by the Haywood County Highway Department for 32 years and as secretary for Foster Construction Company 20 years. She is survived by her son, Dr. William D. Hooper of Bonita Springs. Fl. and two grandsons, Brandon Hooper of Columbus, Ohio and Wesley Hooper of Huntington Beach, California, a great grandson, Jack William Hooper, of Columbus, and a brother, Allen Outlaw, (Marie), Brownsville, TN Katherine was a member of Zion Baptist Church and continued to serve there as long as her health permitted. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Katherine and her son deeply appreciate the compassionate and loving care she received from her caregivers at Sugar Creek Retirement Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Zion Baptist Church, 1733 Upper Zion Rd., Brownsville, TN, 38012. All arrangements and services are under the direction of Lea and Simmons Funeral Home.
