Karla Weeks Mayhew, age 56, died in her home in Scottsboro, Alabama on Monday, March 4, 2024. She was surrounded by her dogs and her family in her final hours. A UAB graduate, Karla’s work as a dental hygienist made her a beloved member of the community in Sewanee, TN., where she will be dearly missed by colleagues and patients alike.
She is survived by her parents, Anne Baker Smith (Jim), and David Weeks (Jackie); daughter, Sarah Beth Mayhew (Samuel); sisters, Cynthia Craven (Ben), Donna Weeks, and Debbie Jaggers (David); nieces, Ailannah Mathis, Emily Craven Johnson (Trent), and Lauren Craven; nephews, Adam Mathis (Katie), and Trey Craven; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Margaret Moore.
Karla was an avid crafter, cook, and gardener, and she continues to brighten the world through the handmade treasures she leaves behind.
Her life and legacy will be celebrated on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 1183 Alabama Highway 79 South, Scottsboro, AL 35769.
