Karl Willingham “Will” Tyree – Obituary

Karl Willingham “Will” Tyree, 60, died Friday, August 9, 2013, in Anniston.  A memorial service will be Friday, August 16 at 11a.m. in the sanctuary of The First Presbyterian Church of Florence with Dr. Richard Gillespie officiating. Visitation will immediately follow in the church library.

 

Will was a native of Florence and the beloved son of Fredericka M. R. Tyree and the late Karl T. Tyree, Jr. He was also big brother to sisters Clyde Cochrane Tyree Crook (Houston, TX), Jane Maxwell Tyree Guin (Boca Raton, FL) and brother Robert Richardson Tyree (Florence).  He is also survived by his extended family of in-laws, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

Will was an Eagle Scout which served him well throughout his life adventures. The Bradshaw High School graduate later earned a degree in Computer Information Services from Athens State after previously receiving a CIS degree from Muscle Shoals State Technical College. Will was also an accomplished ironworker. His dog Jake was his trusted companion on his many walks, particularly through the Natchez Trace.

 

The family wishes to share heartfelt thanks to the multitude of people who have prayed and supported them on Will’s behalf.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Willingham Tyree, Jr.; Dr. Lester Norvell; Olin Mefford; Ken Williams; John Smith McCrory; Bill Norvell; Tommy Pirkle; and Dr. Lyman Mitchell, Jr.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Florence and/or Interfaith Ministries (Interfaith Ministries Inc., 20 W 14th Street, Anniston, AL 3620).
