Karl Alan Kachelman, 54, of Killen, Alabama, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 11, 2012. Karl was a 1976 graduate of Bradshaw High School and a 1981 graduate of Auburn University. He worked as a metal buyer and plant manager for Reynolds Aluminum Recycling, environmental scientist for The Shaw Group, and a metal buyer for Roberson Scrap Metals. Karl enjoyed coaching his sons’ youth league baseball and basketball teams. He was also an avid Atlanta Braves and Auburn football fan.
Karl is survived by his wife, Sylvann Blackstock Kachelman; daughter, Laura Sylvann Kachelman; sons, Alan Justin Kachelman and Stephen Reed Kachelman; mother, Billie Dean Herren Kachelman; brother, Donald Lee Kachelman, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, William Glenn Kachelman and his sister, Joy Deanette Kachelman.
Visitation will be from 1:30 pm until 3 pm on Sunday October 14, 2012, at Greenview Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 3 pm in Greenview Memorial Park. Brother Ronny Jones will be officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Shoals.
