Karen Sue Moore Lilly

Karen Sue Moore Lilly died peacefully at home in Starkville on December 14th 2022 following a determined battle with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years Mark, mother Dolly Moore, sisters Michele, Jane (Jack), Connie (Jeff) and brother John (Kelly), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father Dr. Arnold Moore and sister Sheri. She was carried thru her battle with cancer by her faith and the prayers of family, friends, neighbors, her parish community and prayer warriors around the country.

Karen will be remembered for her kind heart, infectious smile and engaging personality. She was a proud graduate of Mississippi State University. She and Mark were an inseparable couple who loved to travel, whether it was walking the neighborhood or to the 4 corners of the world. Some of her passions were people, puppies and baseball (which she inherited from her father).

As an outlet of her passion for dogs and in thanks for providing us with our beloved Bailey, Karen volunteered at the Oktibbeha County Humane Society, and eventually joined the Board of Directors. In her memory, the Puppy Meet & Greet Room in the soon to be constructed Vanlandingham Animal Center will be named for her.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 607 University Drive in Starkville at 11am on Wednesday December 28th. Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 11 am. Internment in the St. Joseph church columbarium will be immediately after mass. A reception in the church hall will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Karen Lilly may be made to the OCHS Building fund, P.O. Box 297 Starkville MS 39760.
