Karen Peters Johnson age 72 passed away September 22, 2022 at her home.
She was born August 17, 1950 in McNairy County, the daughter of the late William A. and Lila Wilodan Wharton Peters. She traveled and lived all over the world growing up as a ‘navy brat’.
She worked for Chester Manufacturing for years before earning her LPN at McKellar Sipes Vocational School and then worked as a nurse for twenty-five years at Jackson General Hospital.
She was a Baptist in belief and very strong in faith.
She was the best mother and grandmother, that a family could want. She was famous for making peach cakes. She was loved everywhere she went.
She loved fishing, boating, traveling, playing hay day, spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by a son, Gary Wayne Johnson of Jackson; two daughters, Tonya Donice Fowler of Lexington and Alivia Kariche Patterson of Luray; six grandchildren, Taylar Nicole Rushing, Ethan Zane Agnew, William Chase Knipper, William Ayden Johnson, Caitlin Ashlee Fowler and Raychel Elise Fowler and four great grandchildren, Tatum, Maverick, Cleo and Preston; two sisters, Doris Kwajalien Lawrence of Chattanooga and Dorothy Catherine Ison of Reagan.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Sunday, September 25th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Bro. Dwight Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Mars Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at East Main Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday.
