Karen Morrissey Thompson – Obituary

karenKaren Morrissey Thompson, 58, passed away July 1, 2015, at her residence after an extended illness. She was a member of Woodmont Baptist Church and Zeta Tau Alpha (UNA).
Visitation will be held today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Steve Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Morrissey, and mother, Louise Morrissey Parker.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Thompson; son, Craig Thompson (Shea); daughter, Julie Thompson Greenhaw (Chad); stepfather, Rusty Parker; brother, Richard Morrissey (Debbie); and grandchildren, Parker, Preston, and Linley Greenhaw and Tripp Thompson, all of Florence.
Active pallbearers will be Jim Belew, Richard James, Mike Johnson, Brian Lambert, Randall Hunt, Bill Strickland, and Steve Atkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Morrissey and Michael Morrissey.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Lyman Mitchell, Pam Hill, and staff; ECM nurses on sixth floor West; Hospice of the Tennessee Valley, Sandra Holland, and Mary Wood; Jim Belew’s Sunday school class from Woodmont for the countless meals, thoughts, and prayers; Educational Talent Search at Northwest Shoals Community College; Massey Drugs employees; and Karen’s closet friend, Debbie Burnett, for helping her family through this difficult time.
