Junior Russell Martin, 81, of Hamilton, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at his home. No services are planned at this time. Lawrence Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Born on August 22, 1942 to the late Russell and Pearlie Lawrimore Martin, Junior graduated from Mt. Hope High School in 1960. He was a member of Addison First Baptist Church where he sat on the back seat and was known as “Candy Man”. He enjoyed running a bulldozer and building parade cars. If it had a motor, he could work on it.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty Martin; daughters, Mindy Teresa Stewart, Hope (Rodney) Rutherford, and Sandie (Paul) Preedom; grandchildren, Joseph (Stasia) Hamby, Amanda Terry, Alex Akhoondmirza, Layla Akhoondmirza, and Ashley Rutherford; five great-grandchildren; his beloved cat, J-Lo; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Beatrice Goodwin, and Shelby Randolph; and step-son, Tommy Hamby.
The family extends special thanks to his home health special nurse, Kim Summers.
