June Moss Gates of Tuscumbia passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the age of 84. Her visitation will be Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Ed White officiating. She will be buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
June was a native of Tuscumbia and a member of the Valdosta Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Buford Gates; parents, Elijah and Tandy Moss and Effie Moss; brothers, Sidney and J.C. Moss; sisters, Cathline Mills, Ruby Smallwood and Doris Barnes.
She is survived by her sons, William (Lillie), Steve (Cindy) and Mark (Michelle) Gates; sister-in-law, Juanita Glasgow Lindsey; and 5 grandchildren, Leah, Tyler, Chase, Bucko, and Channing Gates.
Pallbearers will be Steve Gipson, Tommy Rogers, Dalton Broussard, Mike Waddell, Clarence Johnson, and Rex Glasgow.
The family expresses special thanks to her caregivers, Delores Enlow, Barbara Smith, Tracey Potter and Sheila Willard and especially to her special friend, Jewel Waddell.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the cemetery fund at Crooked Oak Baptist Church.
