June Evans, age 78, of Albertville, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 2 p.m. with visitation from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., both at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home in Albertville with interment at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church in Arab. Rev. Donald Baugh and Rev. Donald Cotton will be officiating. She is survived by her sisters, Kathy (Danny) Baugh and Jackie (Eddie) Bryant, and her brother-in-law, John Clifton, and special friends, Bill and Linda Hodgens. June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hershel Evans, her parents, James Burl and Mary Ozell Hunt, and her sister, Barbara Clifton, and brother, James Randy Hunt. Pallbearers will be Eddie Bryant, Pat Allen, Ben Allen, Jody Dunsmore, Tyler Baugh, Hunter Baugh, Bill Hodgens, Jonathan Dunsmore and honorary pallbearers, Joseph Clifton, and Brad Faulk.
June was a dedicated educator and coach, serving on the Calhoun County school board. She was inducted into the Calhoun County Hall of Fame and won two state titles as a volleyball coach at Walter Wellborn High School. She also pioneered the school’s indoor track program, coaching a state championship team. Her commitment to youth extended beyond the classroom, earning her Big Brother & Big Sister awards. June leaves behind a legacy of excellence, leadership, and inspiration, cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, and all who knew her.
