Julian Clyde “Jay” Davis, age 85 of Fort Payne, passed away July 19, 2024. He was born on January 24, 1939 in Jackson County to the late Carl & Irene Whitley Davis. He graduated from Jacksonville State University with a B.S. and later received his Master’s from Auburn University. He spent his career coaching football and baseball at Elmore County High School, Auburn High School, Saks High School, and Sewanee (TN) High School. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Payne.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, July 22, 2024 at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Waylon Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the National MS Society or your local animal shelter.
He is survived by his sisters, Edna Inman, Wanda Reece, Annette (Gary) Kennedy, and Jo McBride; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Leslie Davis and Edward Davis.
