Chief Warrant Officer 5, (CW5) Julian Antoine Evans III, 50, was born January 27, 1973, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Mr. Julian J. Evans II and the lovely Ms. Jeraldine Bosley, and was their only child. Julian received his heavenly promotion on July 10, 2023, while undergoing care at Medical Center in Enterprise, Alabama.
At the time of his death, CW5 Evans was serving as the U.S. Army Warrant Officer Career College Deputy Commandant at Fort Novosel, Alabama. For over 30 years, CW5 Evans served the nation honorably, being awarded the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Six Meritorious Service Medals, and Six Army Commendation Medals, among others. CW5 Evans was known and respected by his colleagues as a selfless leader who always placed the needs of his Family, Soldiers, leadership, and fellow Warrant Officers before himself. His love for his country and fellow Soldiers made it easy for him to personally and professionally enrich the lives of those around him. CW5 Evans’s infectious leadership style and legacy of excellence lives on through the hundreds of Officers, Soldiers, and Army Civilians he dedicated his life to teaching, advising, and mentoring.
Julian was a man of many gifts and many talents. Most important, Julian was a true man of God. He served as an Associate Minister at Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church. Julian also found ways to spread the good word in various other places of worship worldwide as he moved where the Army needed his leadership and expertise. Constantly serving, Julian was also a member of the Huntsville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha PSI, Inc., Warrant Officer Association, and an Alumni of Webster University, where he received both his Baccalaureate and Graduate degrees in Business Administration. With his big, beautiful smile, Julian’s favorite thing in life was spending time with his lovely wife and family. Julian enjoyed cooking, golfing, reading, writing, and constantly challenging himself.
Chief Evans was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Anthony Bosley, and father-in-law John Richard Nelson. He leaves to celebrate his life and legacy to his loving wife and best friend, Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Retired) Josie R. Evans, whom he affectionally called “Bunny”; his mother, Jeraldine Bosley; his children, KeAndra A. Evans, Julian A. Evans IV (Ebony), Kerstyn J. Evans, Kejuan A Evans of Cincinnati Ohio, and Te’Yanna R. Evans of Tuscaloosa, AL; grandchildren, Kyaire Williams, Laiyah Brown-Jackson, KaRemy Evans, Kane Evans, Kylee Campbell, and Julian Evans V; special sister, Markeia ReNay Tivis (Java) of Atlanta, GA; special brother, Walter Lee Ham (Jessica) of Atlanta, GA; sisters-in-law, Christine Jones (Oliver) of Abbeville, AL, Shirley Dozier, Angela Dozier, of Dothan, AL, and Kaye Dozier of Montgomery, AL; brother-in-law, Keith Dozier (LaShae) of Oxford, AL; mother-in-law Mary Scott Dozier and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
Julian’s generous spirit and his remarkable and outgoing personality touched the hearts and lives of so many. Regardless of the person’s age, rank, or calling, Julian had the incredible ability to connect with others meaningfully, positively, and profoundly. Through his career and travels, Julian was extremely knowledgeable, and he lived life to the fullest. Julian’s role on earth was that of a special angel genuinely sent from God. Chief Julian Evans’ influence will remain forever in our lives and hearts. He will be missed immensely.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church (1919 Brandontown Road NW Huntsville, AL 35816) with Reverend Dr. Kevin W. Cosby officiating. Interment will be in the Valhalla Memory Gardens. CW5 Evans will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
The Evans family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the Royal Chapel of Memories. The Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated Chapter Invisible Ceremony will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the Royal Chapel of Memories.
Public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home.
