Julia Inez Roten was born September 21, 1927, in Yalobusha County, MS, the daughter of the late John Wesson Thompson and Julia Lee King Thompson. She was united in marriage to John Roten on June 29, 1946. Mr. Roten preceded her in death on September 29, 2007.
Inez was a member of First Baptist Church in Adamsville, TN, where she was very active and would help in any way she could. After retiring from Sears Roebuck and Company, she became a homemaker. She was always working in her community and was locally known for her famous coconut cakes.
She is survived by a son, Gary Roten and his wife Paula of Olive Branch, MS; a daughter, Linda Heizer and husband Dave of Smithville, TN; four grandchildren, Candice Phipps and husband Jason, Brandon Roten and wife Rebecca, Beth Bonner and husband Jeff, Kathy O’Neal and husband Trey; twelve great grandchildren, Eli Duffy, Ella Duffy, Noah Duffy, Maggie Duffy, Hudson Phipps, Brady Phipps, Ava Roten, Jett Roten, Leo O’Neal, Kayley O’Neal, Easton Bonner, and Grayson Bonner; a sister, Peggy Metcalf and husband Delbert of Bartlett, TN.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Roten was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer Thompson, Richard Thompson, Ray Thompson; a sister, Fay Pilch; and a grandchild, Jennifer Heizer.
