Julia Dee Raines, age 93, of Albertville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, at Shepherds Cove Hospice. Born on June 10, 1931, to the late John Hawk, Sr., and Gladys Gribble Hawk, Julia was a beloved educator who dedicated 30 years to teaching, with many of those years spent at Evans Elementary. In 1960, she married Grover Dean Raines, who preceded her in death.
A member of Fairview Methodist Church, Julia shared her musical talents by playing the piano and giving piano lessons. Her creativity also extended to arranging beautiful flower bouquets for the church, a gesture of her love for the community.
Julia is survived by her brother, John Hawk, Jr.; nieces, Anne Frazier, Sandra Klonaris, and Carol Williams; and great-nieces, Elizabeth Peterson and Lauren Peterson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Glenn Hawk.
A memorial service will be held at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. Shannon McCauley officiating.
Her legacy of kindness, music, and dedication to education will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
