Julia Claire Stephens Harmon, 87, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully on June 30 at Signature Gardens. A native of Troy and a longtime resident of Huntsville, Mrs. Harmon was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Mildred Ellis Stephens, and two brothers, Joe and Carl Stephens, all of Troy.

Survivors are sister, Gloria Caneer; and brother, Jack W. Stephens and wife Nora of Huntsville; and sister-in-law Judy Stephens of Troy.

Nieces and nephews who affectionately knew her as “Woowa” are Diedre (Stanley) Senn, Mark (Pam) Stephens, Buford (Monica) Stephens, and Wendell (Donna) Stephens of Troy; Julie Yarbrough and John (Amelia) Stephens of Huntsville; Matthew (Vicki) Caneer of New Market; Scott (Jamie) Stephens of Roswell, GA; and Russell Stephens of Orlando. She is also survived by 20 great nieces and nephews.

Julia cherished her family and leaves behind a host of friends, especially those she made in her 20 years as a resident of Mayfair Towers. Her family is extremely thankful to the nursing staff and aides at Signature Gardens for their compassionate care, which began as Covid restrictions were at the highest.

A private family service is planned.
