Judy Marlene McGhee, 62, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at her home. She was born December 23, 1953, to Charlie Martin and Geneva Marcell Thomas. She retired December 31, 2015, after over 30 years as a news clerk with the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal where her specialty was writing obituaries. She was a born again Christian. She was an avid reader who loved to travel and spend time with her grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, July 15, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Sam Caldwell and Bro. James Paris officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, David Ray McGhee, of Mooreville; two sons, Jason Thomas (Tink) of Tupelo and Alex Campbell of Ripley, TN; two daughters, Maura Renfroe (Johnnie) of Brandon and Melody Gilmore of Tupelo; her mother, Marcell Thomas of Dorsey; two brothers, Jamie Ray Thomas of Dorsey and David Ray Thomas (fiancée Barbara Williams) of Tremont; one sister, Carol Carnathan (Jackie) of Mantachie; and ten grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Martin Thomas; and her ex-husband, the father of Melody and Alex, J.C. Campbell.
