Judy Little, 85, of Fort Payne, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024. She was born March 24, 1939 in Wadley, Alabama, to the late Joseph Francis Pruitt and Mary Gambrell Pruitt. She invested her early years lovingly raising her daughter Maleia and son Warren in Gadsden and Sylvania. Once her children were grown and started families of their own, Judy joyfully extended her loving energy to spending quality time with her adult children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Judy’s pride and joy was her family, and she was lovingly known as “Granny” to all because the family she knew, loved, and prayed for expanded far beyond those related to her. To be in Judy’s presence was to be seen, to be heard and to know you were cared for.
Judy was a lady of southern humor and charm. She was a lover of animals, and she enjoyed long-term companionship with Brandy, Jasper, and Trixie, to name a few. Her hobbies included reading, coloring, enjoying a good southern meal with sweet tea, watching plays and movies, and celebrating Holidays and birthdays with loved ones. Judy loved chocolate, and she took great pleasure in reminding everyone that her mother ate dessert first and lived to be 90. Judy survived two types of cancer and braved the passing of many cherished loved ones over the years with so much grace. And she faithfully prayed daily for the people in her life who needed more help than she could extend in her own strength.
Now that Judy’s lifelong faith has become sight, she can rejoice in a life well lived and a job well done. Every day, she will be remembered, cherished and honored as those who were loved by her carry forward her intentional kindness, unwavering grace and relational faith. Hers is truly a legacy of love.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m., Saturday, May 25th at Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Payne. The family will receive friends from 10 am to the 11 am hour of service.
Judy is survived by her children Warren Watson and Maleia Willis (Jerry); grandchildren Jana Villanueva (David), Jeremy Willis (Jessica), Jerad Watson (Jessica), and Elijah Willis (Sara); and great-grandchildren Blake, Jace, and Roman Villanueva, Grayson and Roselyn Willis, Ann Margaret and Nolan Watson, and Jeremiah, Lillian, and Julia Willis.
