Judy Gale Caughron Profile Photo Judy Gale Caughron, 80, of Columbia, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 7 at Maury Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family and close friends. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Columbia on March 11 at 2:00 pm. A visitation will be held at 1 pm prior to the service. Pastors Rick Blevins, Marty Shadoan, and Joey Scruggs will be officiating. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born on February 28, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, Judy was the daughter of the late Elbert Kirkland Cothran and the late Nelsie Carroll Cothran. She graduated from Hay Long High School in 1962 and was a graduate of Nashville Metropolitan General Hospital School of Nursing in 1966. Judy worked as a Registered Nurse for 47 years, working in Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, Louisiana, and New Mexico. Her last job prior to her retirement was at Williamson Medical Center in the Oncology Unit. While working here, she obtained her Oncology Certification, as well as her Critical Care Certificate. Judy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia for 33 years. She loved serving as a Sunday School teacher, teaching First and Second Grade children. She dearly loved her family and friends.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Laura (Ian) Myers and Rebecca Caughron, granddaughter, Rose Merrily Myers, and brother Eddie Cothran, as well as special friends Pastor Joey and Kim Scruggs and family, Nancy Price, Patsy Maynord, Jo Frances Markham, W. L. and Debbie Culberson, and Loretta Bassham. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, James W. Cothran, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Gibson, and Verb June Cothran.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Columbia, 2790 Pulaski Hwy, Columbia, TN or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
