Judy Elaine Smith Griffin Judy Elaine Smith Griffin, aged 78, of Athens, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025. Born on November 9th, 1946, in Athens, she was the daughter of Jim Ed Smith and Lillie Bell Black Smith.

Mrs. Griffin is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Wyatt Griffin. She leaves behind her cherished children: Tammy Slaten, married to Kevin; Kim Kervin, married to Chris; and Brandon Griffin. Her legacy continues through her treasured grandchildren: Whitney Chandler, married to Jacob; Katie Toone, married to Justin; LilliAnna Kervin, Maggie Kervin, Mylee Kervin, and Wyatt Kervin. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Lucas Toone, Kimber Toone, and Dylan Chandler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Ed and Lillie Bell Smith, as well as her brothers James Smith, Merle Smith, and Glenn Smith. Her sisters Dean Norman, Elizabeth Davis, and Odell Nicholson also passed before her.

Funeral services to honor Mrs. Griffin’s life will be held on Sunday, March 30th, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on the same day from 12:00 to 1:45 pm at the funeral home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery.

The family is deeply grateful for the loving care and support provided by Compassus Hospice during their wife’s, mom’s, and Nana’s illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Huntsville Alabama Compassus Hospice in Judy Griffin’s memory.
