Judith (Juju) Leigh Thompson Powell age 63, of Florence, Alabama, went home to be with Jesus on October 4, 2023. A memorial celebration service will be announced at a later date. Williams Funeral home is handling arrangements. Her ashes will be strown at her favorite places.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walton O. (Buddy) Thompson and grandson Jesse Coleman Brown.
She was the most loving, dedicated wife, mother, and Juju (grandmother) to her family.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Travis R. Powell, mother, Edna Ruth (Newton) Thompson, sister, Debbie Ruth (James Thornton) daughters, Lana Leigh (Russell Brown), Lyndsay Ruth Powell, son, Robert Evan Hamner (Kenzie Fox). Grandchildren, Lydia Marie Powell (Brandon Slayton), Dante Benson, Damien Benson, Lathan Brown, Breanna Gusmus and Elijah Gusmus. And a host of cousins and very close friends. And also, her precious fur babies, F Scott, Zelda and Liam.
All who knew Judith (Juju) loved her. She owned and operated “The Emma House”, catering and boutique restaurant, bed & breakfast for a number of years. She also served as the financial secretary for Faith Tabernacle for a number of years. Throughout the years Judith and Travis opened their home to many many people in need, some staying a few days, some a few months and some a few years.
One of her greatest joys was serving others and hosting parties. She had the most giving heart of anyone and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
