Judith Elayne Schutz Rhodes Judith Elayne Schutz Rhodes, age 66, of Columbia, Tennessee, formerly of Salem, Massachusetts, died Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville.  She was the wife of Bill Rhodes of Columbia.  Born February 2, 1956, during a Massachusetts blizzard, she was the daughter of Lt Cdr Albert C Schutz, Jr, and Geraldine B Latinik Schutz.

 

Judy delighted in her children and grandchildren, attending and helping with horse shows, baseball and field hockey games, karate classes and demonstrations, and plays and dramas.  She cooked pizza with other mothers on pizza days at St Joseph School in Salem.  She served many years on the Altar Guild and Flower Committee at Grace Episcopal Church in Salem, and later on the Altar Guild at St Peter’s Episcopal Church in Columbia.  She prepared and served food at the Crombie Shelter in Salem.  Judy was a woman who loved The Lord, her family, and the people around her, always with a smile, willing hands to help, and a generous and gentle heart.

 

She was predeceased by her parents and an especially beloved uncle, Arthur Latinik of Salem.  Besides her husband, she is survived by her four children: Shawn Greer (Bridget) of Shelbyville, Tennessee, Dawn Hill (Terrance Jordan) of Tampa, Florida, Joseph Rhodes (Paola) of Revere, Massachusetts, and Megan Rhodes (Connor Hilfinger) of Salem; five grandchildren: Bailey Sanford (Cody) of Smithville, Tennessee, Devyn Hill of Tampa, Taya Hill of Tampa, and Melena & Sophia Jordon, also of Tampa; and one great-granddaughter, Everly Sanford of Smithville; four brothers: David Schutz (Kathy) of Columbus, Ohio, Mark Schutz (Lisa) of Nashville, Tim Schutz of Manchester, Tennessee, and Larry Schutz (Jean Harris) of Nashville; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 3, at St Peter’s Episcopal Church in Columbia, Father Christopher Bowhay officiating.  There will be visitation in the parish hall at 10 AM before the service.  Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.
