Judith Ann King, age 81, passed away on Dec 30, 2024. She was born in Piedmont, AL, and during her life also resided in Louisville, KY, and Carrollton, GA. Services will be held at St Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Carrollton, on Saturday, January 11th, at 4pm.
Judith was a talented painter and musician. She was an avid reader and book collector, and she enjoyed writing stories and poetry.
She earned degrees from Jacksonville State University and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1978, she became the first woman to receive a PhD in Philosophy from Southern Seminary in Louisville, and she taught Hebrew and Old Testament theology there for a time.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence M. King and Rachel Coker King, and her brother, Rev. David King.
She is survived by her niece and nephews and their families, Wanda and Steve Sprayberry, Phil and Amy King, and Ross and Tracy King, and great-nieces and nephews, Amanda Wentzel, Chris (Laura) Wentzel, Dakota King, Dalton King, and Isabel King.
