Juanita (Smith) Russell, 84 of Florence, passed away December 7, 2023. She was born December 31,1938 to Emmett and Odella who preceded her in death and 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
1 brother John and 1 sister Maryann surviving; 2 daughters, Judy (Rev. Arnold) Smith of Walkerton Indiana, Tammy (Rev. Phillip) Haner of South Haven Michigan; 1 Son, Randy Russell of Florence Alabama; 1 Granddaughter, Brandy (Jessie) White; 5 Grandsons- Rev. Dwayne (Glenda) Smith, Rev. Brent (Amanda) Smith, Rev. Caleb (Rebecca) Haner, Drexel (Lola) Haner, Adam (Lisa) Russell; Great Grandchildren – Dustin, Brooklyn, Christian, Christiana, Violet, Magnolia, Payton, Royal, Josi, Wheeler and Carley; and Great-Great Grandchildren- Addison and Leo.
Sis. Russell married her sweetheart Rev. Phillip Russell on November 7, 1953 who preceded her in death on April 13, 2010.
Sis. Russell was a lady of class not only in her appearance but also in her home. She loved beautiful things and never wanted to look “Old”. She wore many hats in life which included working as a waitress, sewing factory, home healthcare and as a pastor’s wife for several years and most of all she loved people. She loved her family dearly and always wished the best for each of them. Behind the scenes she loved to play match maker and made everyone feel a part of the family. After the passing of her sweetheart she lived on her own in Florence Alabama for 12 years and attended The Pentecostals of Florence. Many thanks to her loving sister, Maryann, for always being there for her no matter the time of day or night during those 12 years.
She moved to South Haven Michigan last November to be near her girls. While in Michigan she attended P.O.S.H. Church where she was loved very much. A special thank you to Melissa Soristo for being her shopping buddy and special friend.
Sis. Russell lived well, loved a lot and will be missed by many. Until we meet again, we love you!
Visitation will be Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday, December 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Pentecostals of Florence. Burial will follow in Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.
