Juan Manuel Cortes, 44, of Somerville, AL passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in Athens. He was born December 14, 1979 in Mexico to Felipe Cortes and Ignacia Reyna. He is preceded in death by his father and one brother, Juan Cortes.
Juan enjoyed his job as a roofer since he was 18 years old. He worked for Hamlin Homes in Athens. He was an avid soccer fan and Chevy fan. He loved working on trucks, but most of all he loved spending time with his loving family. Juan was always kind, helpful and willing to help a stranger in a time of need.
Survivors include his mother, his wife of 22 years, Sharon Cortes; one son, Carlos Cortes; three daughters, Maritza Cortes (Cameron Hudson), Bianca Taylor, Kassandra Cortes all of Somerville; one brother, Ricky Cortes (Lisa); two sisters, Mireya Cortes (Juvencio), Jasmine Cortes all of Mexico; one grandchild, Mariana Hudson of Somerville; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 12-2 p.m. with the funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Thatch and Mann Cemetery.
