Joyce Weaver Kirkland, 93 of Tuscumbia, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018. Visitation will be Friday, March 30, 2018 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Tuscumbia with the funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Rudy Guess and Mark Kirkland will officiate the service. The burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Joyce was a native of Cherokee. She worked as the office manager for fifty years at the Florence Trading Post and she was a member of First United Methodist Church in Tuscumbia.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Edward G. Weaver and Preston Weaver.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 75 years, Walker H. Kirkland; sons, Ronald W. Kirkland (Susan) of Tuscumbia and Douglas W. Kirkland (Dereece) of St. Florian; grandchildren, Shannon Hoyle (Emery), Kerrie Blanke (Cass), Mannin Frederick (Rodney) and Eric Kirkland (Ellen); and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Emery Hoyle, Rodney Frederick, Eric Kirkland, Cass Blanke, Matt Kirkland, Harry Gardiner, John Piper and Eddie Weaver.
Honorary pallbearers are P.L. King, Ellis Swinea, Kenny Webb, Eric Reid, Mike Miller, Roger Fuller, Bill Thompkins, Bill Ayers, Jimmy Lockett, Ardell Hollis and Manly Barksdale.
The family offers special thanks to Dr. Jack McClendon and his staff; the nurses and staff of Southern Patient Care; caregivers/sitters Margaret Jones, Lulu Smith, April Chandler, Gloria Comer and Adrianne Franklin.
