Joyce Wall Thomas Tidwell, 87, a native of Monrovia, passed away at home after a brief battle with cancer. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She graduated from Huntsville High School and attended Auburn University. She was a lifetime member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence A. Tidwell Jr. They would be celebrating their 69th anniversary this month. She is also survived by her daughter, Mary Lee Sharp (Dr. Joe T. Sharp); daughter-in-law, Debbie Tidwell; grandchildren, Erin S. Tipton (Tipper), Jared Sharp (Randa), Nicolas Sharp (Ashley), Stuart Sharp (Courtney), Justin Tidwell (Macey), Travis Tidwell (Lauren); great grandchildren, Mary Stuart Tipton, Hayden Tipton, Carson Sharp, Evie Sharp, Mary Carter Sharp, Hazel Sharp, Emma Sharp, Tennyson Sharp, Mary Gibbs Sharp, Stuart Sharp II, Knox Tidwell, Kellan Tidwell, and Blair Tidwell. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Lee and D.T. Thomas, her brother, Dea Thomas, and her son, Allen Tidwell.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 5th at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Monrovia. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by the funeral at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Mount Zion Baptist Church Building Fund or The Russel Hill Cancer Foundation. The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors, nurses, and health care workers who gave her excellent care during this difficult time in her life.
