Joyce Taylor Roof, 71, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
Mrs. Roof is survived by her adored husband, William Roof; children, LeAnn Duncan (Steve), and Rebecca Dillard (Johann Caris); grandchildren, Austin Dillard (Brittanee), Alaina Dillard (Dakota), and Jake Duncan; brother, David Taylor (Linda), and Jerry Taylor (Debbie); sister, Donna Moore (Mark); and her sweet dog Martina.
Joyce is preceded by her parents, David and Dorothy Taylor; and son-in-law, Christopher Dillard.
Joyce was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Huntsville, Alabama at the age of 16. She began working in a factory up until the time she fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Mrs. Roof worked as a nurse at UAB Family Practice in Huntsville, Alabama until she retired. She was a dedicated Elvis Presley Fan and enjoyed racing, and Alabama Football. She enjoyed spending time with her family and is remembered as the one who always went above and beyond for birthdays and holidays. During her free time, you could find her making handmade quilts or working on a crossword puzzle. Joyce loved her Lord and Savior and part of her ministry was taking time every day to send a bible verse to those she loved and cared for so much.
Visitation for Mrs. Roof will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Berryhill Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the chapel at Berrhill Funeral Home with Pastor David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Somerville Cemetery on Highway 67 in Somerville, Alabama.
Pallbearers are James Baker, Steven Duncan, Jake Duncan, Austin Dillard, Dakota Lamons, and Johann Caris.
