Joyce Odell Nolen, age 87, of Albertville, Alabama, transitioned to her heavenly body on October 7, 2024 in Gulf Breeze, Florida. She will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Boaz, Alabama. Joyce was born on July 22, 1937, to Jim and Dovie Odell in Boaz, Alabama. She was a kind, sweet, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, fiercely loved by her family. She was married to Tommy Nolen, whom she married on November 15, 1958, and spent 64+ years together until his passing on December 20, 2022. Joyce was known for her quick wit, her contentment and joy in life, and her love for her family and friends. She was quiet, kind, and always positive towards everyone she knew. She was also very smart and her memory for details survived until the day of her passing. She was a warrior, having battled severe COPD and heart issues for the past seven years with resilience and a positive attitude, and was an inspiration to all those who touched her life. She grew up and was a faithful member for decades at New Union Congregational Methodist Church in Boaz. She loved Jesus and her family knows that October 7 was a glorious day for her to meet Jesus and be reunited with her husband Tommy. Joyce is survived by her daughter Susan Story (Joe); son Steve Nolen (Ruth); 3 grandchildren, Matthew Nolen (Allison), John Nolen (Mary), and Angela Matasic (Mike); 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October10 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. at the Albertville Memorial Chapel, located at 5011 US-431, Albertville, Alabama.
