The widow of James E. Mills, who died on May 16, 2006 after 42 years of marriage, she worked as a school bus driver for the county for about 10 years. She was born January 12, 1944 in Saulsbury, daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Pierce and Magella Burnette Pierce and lived her whole life here. She had previously worked at Western Mental Health Institute and as a seamstress for Barrett & Stevens Furniture. She enjoyed hunting, working in her flower beds and being around her animals, but held her greatest love for her family, whom she cherished. Mrs. Mills was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Cheri & Michael Fisher of Savannah; three sons and their wives, Roy & Page Mills , Jimbo & Jackie Mills, all of Bolivar, David & Amanda Mills of Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Martha Scarborough of Humboldt, Beverly Culver and Susan Doyle, both of Bolivar; a brother, Jimmy Pierce of Bells; 9 grandchildren, Tonya, Regan, Khala, Johnny, Billy, Cody, Lane, J.C. and Elena; and 3 great grandchildren, Hunter Dean Mills, Hayden Marie Satas and James Joseph Fisher. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles & Sid Pierce and a great granddaughter, Gabrielle Renee Fisher. The family requests memorial donations in her name be sent to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (ww5.komen.org/donate)
