Joyce Mills, a beloved soul known for her ability to make friends wherever she went, has peacefully passed away on May 4, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Born on December 5, 1949, in Memphis, TN, to the late Floyd and Edna Stone Mills, Joyce’s life journey was characterized by her warm and friendly personality, her love for travel and spending quality time with her family. Joyce received her education at the Mississippi School for the Deaf, where she not only gained knowledge but also built lasting connections that enriched her life. In her later years, she attended Wheeler Grove Baptist Church where her church family supported and loved on her as she did them. Her cheerful nature and genuine interest in others endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Those left to honor Joyce ’s memory include her daughters, Karen Parker (Zane) and Julie Knight (Gene); her grandchildren, Jordan, Taylor, Morgan, Trey, Matthew, Gracie, Abigail, Edna, and Jada; 10 great grandchildren; her brother, Ray Mills (Patti); other relatives, and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Glen Mills. While we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual, we also celebrate the legacy of kindness and friendship that she leaves behind. Joyce’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched during her time on this earth.
