Joyce McDonald McWhorter Barnes, 81, of Huntsville, passed away Saturday. Mrs. Barnes retired from the US Army Missile Command and was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Catherine Sue McWhorter Duhlstine; son, Randy Joe McWhorter; mother, Frances Ellen McDonald; father, Ray McDonald; sister, Alice Jones; brother, Jimmy McDonald; and brother-in-law, Bobby Eubanks.
Survivors include her husband, William M. Barnes; daughter, Lois M. Keel (Randy) of Montgomery; son, Richard L. McWhorter (Patsy) of Union Grove; daughter-in-law, Drew McWhorter; sisters, Betty M. Bates (John) and Laura M. Eubanks of Huntsville and Gail M. Hill (Larry) of Orange Beach; stepdaughter, Jerri Hamilton; stepson, Jefferson Barnes, both of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Brian Keel (Ellen) of Montgomery, Alyssa McWhorter of Nashville, Josh McWhorter (Jennifer) of Huntsville and Matthew McWhorter (Chelsey) of Daphne; five step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Jim Daughtry officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
