Joyce Howard Britton of Hazel Green went to be with the Lord on Thursday while surrounded by her family. She was 86. She had worked as an administrative assistant but in later years, she worked for Madison County Schools driving a bus. She was a Christian and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Billy Britton; her brother, Lowell Howard; her sister, Betty McElyea Roberts; her parents, Melvin & Josie Howard.
Surviving family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Dwight & Penny Britton; her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila & Mitch Taylor; her daughter and special friend, Patti Britton & Damian McLemore. her grandchildren: Kevin & Brandy Whitworth, Melissa & Lindsay Schumake, Jennifer and Kyle Watson, Emily and John Marshall, Scott Norris, Nathan Norris and Austin Norris; 10 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale & Debbie Howard, Gene & Libby Howard, and Ken & Joann Howard.
The family will receive friends on Sunday beginning at 12:30pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:30pm at the funeral home with Brother Billy Langford and Brother Tim Britton officiating. Burial will be after the service and will be in Concord Cemetery.
