Joyce Chestnutt MansellJoyce Chestnutt Mansell 72, was born in Tennessee on July 08, 1952. She left this life tragically on October 15, 2024 at approximately 3:00 PM. Joyce grew up with twin brothers. Her parents and both brothers proceeded her in death.

Joyce was raised as a devoted Catholic, later in life after meeting Rose and family she became a member of the Lord’s church. She was a member of Stewartsville church of Christ. Joyce attended the University of Tennessee and earned a master’s degree. She moved to Florida and was a chemist there for many years, she met Jill Schneider and they become lifetime friends and we’re still housemates until her death. Joyce was always a loving caring person. She had marriages early in life that did not work out , and was never able to have children. In the early 2000s she moved to Alabama to help care for her brother that was sick with cancer and her mother that was getting old. They both passed and she was alone except for Jill.

In 2007 Rose, Jon, and Connor came into her life. She was an angel sent to them to help them deal with their momma/grandmaw’s tragic death. She had a family and kids that needed her that she loved that loved her right back. Joyce was just what they needed. She helped raise the boys and loved every minute of it. From attending orthodontist visits, to following Connor around for ballgames, to chauffeuring Jon around up until her death. She enjoyed taking Jon to concerts out of town and traveling. The day before her death, she and Jon were out on the town. Where you seen Joyce, you usually seen Jon. They were inseparable. She was a fill in momma and grandmaw, she was family.

Joyce’s other love was her dogs. She fostered volunteered at the shelter and Petco. She would buy for her dogs and do without for herself. She was a great example of what a true friend is.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her lifetime friend and housemate, Jill Schneider; her adopted family, Rose, Jon and Connor; and her babies Lucky, Coco, Snickers and her cats.

“Your work and purpose here is done my friend. We will always carry you and our heart.”

A special heartfelt thanks goes out to the emergency personnel and neighbors that helped during this difficult time.

A celebration of life will be Sunday, October 2024 at Stewartville Church of Christ beginning at 1:00 PM.
