Mrs. Joyce Castillo, age 72, wife of Richard Castillo, and a resident of Formosa Drive in Columbia, passed away Saturday evening, October 27, 2018 at her residence.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday at 10AM at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Father Davis Chackaleckel officiating. The family will also visit with friends on Saturday from 9-10AM at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on December 12, 1945 in Detroit, MI, Joyce was the daughter of the late William Francis Carey and the late Helen Hojnicki Carey. She married Richard Castillo on January 30, 1965 and together they had five children. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. Joyce loved watching old movies, playing Trivial Pursuit and Bunko. She enjoyed the fall weather and was an excellent cook. Joyce was proud of her Irish heritage and especially loved spending time with her family. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Joyce will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons: Robert Castillo of San Antonio, TX, William Castillo of Columbia, Richard (Bonnie) Castillo of Madison; daughter: Angela Castillo of Columbia; brothers: Chester (Laura) Carey of Michigan, David (Beth) Carey of Virginia; sisters: Cynthia (Greg) Zylla of Michigan, Kathleen (Roger) Kowalski of Michigan; and grandchildren: John Sharp and Isabela Castillo.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Daniel Castillo on August 22, 2018; and brother: Raymond Carey
