Joyce Bond, 82, passed away Friday. She was born in Webster, FL to the late Solon Gettis and Ethel Mauldin. Joyce lived in Jacksonville, FL where she met and married her husband, Jim on April 15, 1961. She worked as an insurance secretary until she had her children. After her children were in school, she became a teacher’s aide at Riverside Presbyterian Day School. She also worked at JC Penney for ten years. She was a member of the Chancel Choir of Riverside Presbyterian Church for over 50 years as well as a member of the First Presbyterian Church and choir in Huntsville for over 14 years. She was known as a selfless, giving friend, grandma and wife who was loved by all.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Bond of Meridianville; son, James Bond, Jr. of Meridianville; daughter, Janice Wells of Savannah, GA; two granddaughters, Brianna Bond and Camden Bond as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church of Huntsville. The memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian with the Rev. Rosemary McMahan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the choir at First Presbyterian Church of Huntsville or the organ fund at Riverside Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, FL.
