Joyce Benson Newton was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on September 24, 1948 the daughter of the late Albert Sidney and Grace Worley DeShazier.
Joyce was a homemaker and had attended Olivet Pentecostal Church and Savannah Church of Christ. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, writing cards for the holidays, and spending time with her family.
She departed this life on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 73 years, 10 months, and 30 days.
Joyce is survived by her children, Melissa Murphy (Joel), Tina Benson (Mickey DeShazier), Regina Hollins, and Anthony “Little Man” Benson (Marie Dickerson); grandchildren, Felicia Mullins, Calvin Ables, Jeremy Wayne Murphy, Sabrina Howell, and Diamond Howell ; and great grandchildren, Leland Mullins, Ziva Mullins, and Letty Mullins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles “Peanut” Benson and the father of her children, Roy Edward Benson
