On July 4, 2024, Joyce Ann Miller Kendrick realized the freedom her lifelong faith promised when she met her Creator and rejoined her family and friends gone before on that everlasting shore. She was 88. Joyce was born on July 29, 1935, in Prentiss County to the late Luther Miller and Ruby Cagle Miller. She graduated from Wheeler High School. She lived much of her adult life in Lee County. After the death of her first husband, Bobby Hugh Morgan, she married Billy Kendrick, local CPA in December, 1996 and he survives. Joyce was a lovely lady, always smiling, always sharing a kind word with everyone she met. Joyce was an encourager of others, always dressing to the 9s and living the Gospel she based her life on. She was a longtime member of Harrisburg Baptist Church. Joyce spent much of her working life at People’s Bank and Trust (now Renasant) where she met customers’ needs with joy and perfection as a long time teller and auditor. Among her hobbies were interior decorating, shopping, enjoying Ross especially, reading and studying the Bible and reading Sunday school material.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 PM Monday, July 8, 2024 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with her longtime pastor, Rev. Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Private burial will follow in Prentiss Memorial Gardens south of Frankstown. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed at hollandfuneraldirectors.com/live-streaming at 2 PM Monday, and will be archived thereafter.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Billy Kendrick of Tupelo; a son, Michael Morgan of Tupelo; 2 children by marriage, Stephanie Kendricks of Pensacola and Rob Kendrick of Mooreville; 3 sisters, Doris King (Bill), Loyce Hooper (J.W., deceased) and Diane Devers (Bobby, deceased); 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Myra LaJuan Jordan.
