Mrs. Joyce A. Wiggins, age 56 of Hornsby, departed this life Friday morning, August 17, 2012 at her home.
A life-long resident of Hardeman County, she was born Wednesday, May 23, 1956 to the late Arie Hardie and Madie Frances Foust Wilson. On July 27, 1974 she was united in marriage to Benny Wiggins, who survives. She was educated in the Hardeman and McNairy County school systems and worked as a factory worker. She volunteered as a medical first responder and was among the first female fire fighters in Hardeman County. She loved talking to people, gardening, working with flowers and volunteering as a fire safety teacher in schools. She also cared for her dog very much.
Along with her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Teresa Upright of Bethel Springs; two sisters, Ella Crutcher of Whiteville and Lena Baker of Hornsby; two brothers, J. C. Wilson and Charles Wilson, both of Hornsby; and two grandchildren, Camron Upright and Hunter Upright.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Samantha Wiggins, who died February 24, 1977 and a brother, Danny Wilson.
