Obituary of Josephine Hilburn Josephine Crossland Hilburn was born on August 31, 1943, to Pauline Crossland of Rienzi, Mississippi. She entered heaven on Saturday, May 4, 2024. At the time of her death, she was residing at the Pinnacle, an assisted living facility in Southaven, Mississippi. Josephine’s life was centered around her family and friends in Rienzi where she resided throughout her life. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, special aunt and friend to many. She attended Sardis Primitive Baptist Church. She worked for many years at ITT in Corinth and then later worked at Rienzi Elementary School in the cafeteria where she stayed until she retired in 2016. She enjoyed working outside in her garden alongside her husband Chester, she loved to play cards, and go out to dinner with her friends on the weekends. Most of all she loved to cook for her family and spend time with them.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Crossland; her grandparents, Enoch and Dora Waldon; her in-laws, Cleabert and Loys Hilburn; her special aunt, Gladys Hilburn Godfried; her sister, Betty Lou Hancock; her sister-in law, Hester Hilburn Bugg; her husband, Chester Hilburn; and her son, Keith Hilburn.

She is survived by her cherished grandson, Brandon Hilburn (Tiffany); her great-granddaughters, Khloey and Macie Claire Hilburn; her niece, Lynn Martin; her nephew, David Martin; her sisters-in-law, Barbara Jones and Brenda Monk; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at McMillan Funeral Home in Booneville on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and at 9:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday May 9, 2024. Services will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 A.M. followed by burial at the Sardis Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Rienzi, where Josephine will be laid to rest alongside her family.
