Joseph Stockton VeazeyJoseph Stockton Veazey, 70, of Tuscumbia, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at North Alabama Medical Center with family by his side. He was born October 3, 1951, in Montgomery, West Virginia, to Joseph and Ruth Anderson Veazey. He was raised in Pratt, West Virginia, attended the Catholic Church, and graduated from East Bank High School, Class of 1969. He attended Alderson Broaddus University, where he played basketball. He later served in the West Virginia National Guard and was a conductor on the C & O Railroad. Joseph later moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where he was a maintenance engineer. He was also a Sunday school teacher and coached his daughters’ basketball teams. Joseph returned to West Virginia and served as the mayor of Alderson. After moving to Alabama, he became a groundskeeper of Tennessee Valley Country Club.

Joseph enjoyed gardening and sharing his crops with everyone. Joseph was a race car enthusiast and an avid golfer and enjoyed playing the golf course at the Greenbriar Golf Club in White Sulfur Springs, West Virginia.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph McKernan Veazey and Ruth Anderson Veazey, brothers, James Rose Anderson and Michael Anderson Veazey, and grandparents, Victor Stockton Veazey, Marguerite Beirne Veazey, George Dennis Anderson, and Evelyn Hudnall Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Rosa Veazey, Tuscumbia, Alabama; daughters Rachel Frame Romage, of West Virginia, Kelly Jo Veazey, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Emily Jean Veazey, Outer Banks, North Carolina; step-daughters, Lori Flowe, Gina McClure, and Sheannon McGraw all of North Carolina; sister, Marybeth Veazey Copley (Terry), Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
No services will be held at this time.
