Joe was born in Spruce Pine, Alabama, on December 23, 1936, to James and Theo Hendrix. He received his engineering degree from Auburn University while serving in the US Army, then beginning his lifelong career with IBM. Joe will be remembered for his passion for people, his love for his wife, children, and grandchildren, his service to the people of Baja, his big laugh and his kind heart. Joe served as an elder at Mayfair Church of Christ for over 25 years, teaching others through his life to be like Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Adrian, Earl, Austin, and Dale, and by his sister Libby.
Survivors include the love of his life and wife of 57 years, Jaye Hendrix; son Stephen Gregory (Catherine) Hendrix; daughter Kaye (Mark)Collins; brother Howard Hendrix; and seven grandchildren, Ashley, Allison, Skylar, Morgan, Kailie, Tayler, and Cooper.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 6, at Mayfair Church of Christ in Huntsville Alabama. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 12:00, and the service will begin at 12:00, with Jason Bybee officiating.
