Joseph Scott, Jr., a gentle, analytical, and faith-filled man, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2023, at Huntsville Hospital. Born on June 5, 1941, in Pritcher, Alabama, he was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend who left an indelible mark on the lives of those he encountered.

Joseph was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army for 20 years. His dedication to his country was only surpassed by his commitment to his faith. He was a man of deep spiritual conviction, whose faith guided him throughout his life and was evident in his actions and interactions with others. His analytical mind was a gift he used not only in his military service but also in his daily life, always seeking to understand the world around him.

Joseph was a devoted family man. He is survived by his son, Tim Scott, and his grandchildren, Meagan Collins and Morgan Scott. He was a loving grandfather who took great joy in his grandchildren’s accomplishments. He also leaves behind five brothers and two sisters, who will remember him for his gentle nature and unwavering support. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Brown Scott, his parents, Joseph Scott Sr., and Selma Mabyn Scott, and four of his siblings.

A lifelong fan of the Atlanta Braves, Joseph rarely missed a game and was known to analyze each play with the precision of a seasoned commentator. His love for baseball was matched only by his interest in current events. He was a regular viewer of CNN and other news outlets, always staying informed about the world’s happenings. His analytical mind loved to delve into the complexities of global events, and he was always ready for a spirited discussion on the latest news.

Joseph’s life was characterized by his gentle spirit, his analytical mind, and his deep, abiding faith. He was a man who believed in the power of kindness and the importance of understanding. He was a beacon of light in the lives of his family and friends, and his memory will continue to shine brightly in their hearts.

In his passing, we remember not just the end of a life, but the rich, full life that Joseph lived. We remember a man who served his country with honor, who loved his family deeply, and who found joy in the simple pleasures of a baseball game or a news broadcast. We remember a man of faith, whose belief in a higher power guided him through life’s challenges and triumphs. We remember Joseph Scott, Jr., a man who made the world a better place by being in it.

As we mourn the loss of Joseph, we also celebrate his life. We honor his service, his faith, and his love for his family. We remember his gentle spirit, his analytical mind, and his unwavering faith. And we strive to carry forward the lessons he taught us: to be kind, to seek understanding, and to live our faith.
