Mr. Joseph Lee “Sonny” Watson, Jr., age 83, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at his residence in Brownsville, TN. Funeral Services to honor Mr. Sonny will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at 12 Noon at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN with burial to follow at Brownsville Memorial Gardens. Bro. Grover Westover will be officiating the service. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, from 10:30 until 12 noon at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN. Sonny was born on October 3, 1936, in Haywood County to Joseph and Martha Ellen Watson. He worked for the Haywood County Highway Department. He was married to Marie Watson of Brownsville. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to tell stories and jokes to his friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Marie Watson; one son, Jimmy Watson (Alberta); one daughter, Betty Hayes, (Mike), all of Brownsville, TN; one brother, Lawarance Watson (Mammie) of Whiteville, TN; one sister, Kathy Doering (Bill) of Somerville, TN; one grandchild, Monica Hayes of Brownsville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lee and Martha Ellen Johnson Watson, Sr.; one brother, Billy Watson; two sisters, Norma Long and Phyllis Hughes, and one granddaughter, Cynthia Hayes. Pallbearers for the service are Tom Kyzer, Jerry Kyzer, Travis Rosson, Preston Bailey, Charlie Moody and Bill Doering. Memorials are requested to the charity of the donor’s choice. All services and arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
