Joseph Lee Melvin Joseph Lee Melvin, 59, of New Site, Mississippi, died on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Joseph was a kind and generous man that will be missed by many. While he always tried to help anyone in any way he could, he also couldn’t help but pulling people’s legs a little too. He was very good at being mischievous and told the best stories, even if they might have been tall tales sometimes. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his “very special, bestest girl in the whole wide world”, his granddaughter, Cheyann McGee. Joseph adored all animals, especially his dog, Gizzy, and his chickens. Out of all the jobs he’d ever done, caring for his animals and being a “chicken tender” was probably his favorite. Joseph is survived by his children, Christopher Lee Melvin and Marlana McGee; his son-in-law, Danny McGee; his grandchildren, Jocelynn Melvin, Jace Melvin, Danny “3D” McGee, Jr., and Cheyann McGee; his brother, Donald Stevens of Rockford, IL; his sisters, Caryl Johnson of Hamilton, AL, Loli Holland (Ed) of Cherry Valley, IL, Billie Jo Worley of Dexter, MO, and Lowonda Melvin of Iuka, MS; numerous nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, a host of cousins in WI and FL; and his dog, Gizzy. He was preceded in death by his wives, Brenda Melvin of Kennett, MO, and Beverly Melvin of Marietta, MS; and his parents, Daisy and Virgil Melvin. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his good friends Melinda, her husband, and James Sanders for looking out for Joseph. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. The family will be hosting a memorial service at a later date. Memorials may be made in Joseph’s honor to the ASPCA.
