Joseph Larry Jackson, devoted husband, son, brother, and friend, of Sevierville, Tennessee, passed away on July 4, 2024, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born on September 23, 1942, to the late Leonard Lee and Mary Jo Coop Jackson. Joe grew up in Tullahoma and graduated from Tullahoma High School in 1960. He attended Martin Methodist College, where he met the love of his life, Virginia (Ginger) Martin. They were married on January 31, 1964. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years. Upon returning from his service to our country, he graduated from Memphis State University. His career with Lockhead Martin gave him the privilege to attend a space shuttle launch, as well as a party with the astronauts. During their sixty-year marriage, Joe and Ginger enjoyed many travels in their motor home and visited all fifty states. They also enjoyed taking twenty-three cruises to many exciting places. In his spare time, he enjoyed being a Ham Radio Operator and talking to people all over the world. Joe was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sevierville. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Englewood, Tennessee, Englewood Order of Eastern Star, and American Legion. In addition to his loving wife, Joe is survived by his sister, Susan (Gary) Gipson of Alto; niece, Kim (David) Foster of Winchester; nephew, Chris (Brooke) Gipson of Estill Springs; and several great nieces and great nephews. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm CST on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 pm CST in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Burns and Rev. Gayle Burns officiating. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma. In Joe’s memory the family requests that donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, 500 Belle Ave, Sevierville, TN 37862.
