Joseph “Joe” Alton Jerom Tackett, 73, died Friday, January 16, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born March 14, 1941, to Alton and Grace Springer Tackett. He was a truck driver most of his life and was a member of Norris Chapel Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing gospel music.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Norris Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Michael Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Gilvo Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jackie Sue Tackett; two sons, Anthony Tackett (Dana) of Amory and Jason Tackett (Lynn) of Mantachie; one daughter, Beverly Watson (Kevin) of Mooreville; two brothers, Johnny Tackett and Glenn Tackett (Mary Ann), both of Tupelo; 11 grandchildren, Karlee, Nicholas, Zane, Porter, Shay, Talana, Stevi, Patrick, Tyler, Wesley, and Jenny; and five great-grandchildren, Kagen, Jaden, Noa, Nehemia, and Kruiz.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Jackey Wayne Tackett and William Mark Pannell; one sister, Helen Tackett; and his parents.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Saturday, January 17, and will continue until service time Sunday at Norris Chapel Baptist Church.
