Joseph “Jody” Terrell – Obituary

Joseph “Jody” Terrell, 75, of Florence, passed away at ECM Hospital Wednesday, October 10, 2018 after a lengthy illness.

 

Visitation will be Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Charles Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

 

Active pallbearers will include: Rick Graves, Barry Wood, Bill Hunt, Terry Mitchell, Donnie Edwards, and Fred Baughner.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Nelson Wimberly, Buster Reynolds, John Thomas, Tommy Stanfield, and Coffee High School Class of 1962.

 

Jody was the Assistant Director of Florence Parks and Recreation Department for over 34 years. He touched the lives of people of all ages and especially enjoyed working with the youth of our city. Jody was recognized as one of the most outstanding athletes in Coffee High School history, earning letters in all sports. The close relationships formed with his classmates, (Class of 1962), has remained strong to this day. In 2017 he was inducted into the Lauderdale County Sports Hall of Fame.

 

Jody was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Mills Terrell and Joseph Terrell.

 

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gail Williams Terrell; daughter, Lisa Gail Terrell; and a host of cousins.

 

Jody was a great husband, father, and friend. He will be missed and remembered fondly. Our loss is Heavens gain.
